Why it matters

Certification of renewables offshore platforms by a recognised classification society is typically pre-requisite for insurance, selling of the asset at project completion and regulatory approval. Engagement early-on with the right certification strategy avoids e.g. impact on costly re-design, fabrication phase and potential delays later in the project. The importance of having the basic design assumptions certified in the early phase of the project whether it is pre-FEED, FEED, Basic/Detailed Design - is essential for the success of the project and the cooperation throughout the various phases of the project. On top of the certification and 'Statement of Compliance', there can be additional 3^rd Parties such as Professional Engineering stamping (e.g. Taiwan, Japan, Korea) and BSH (Germany).
